From swim lanes to soulmates

  1. Paola and Lovre met in 2014 on their college swim team in Bakersfield. She was a sophomore, he was a freshman, and somewhere between long practices and early mornings, they discovered they were very good at making each other laugh… usually by teasing one another.

    What started as playful banter quickly turned into an easy friendship.

  2. In 2017, friendship officially turned into something more and that same year, Gambit joined the family. From then on, it was the three of them.

  3. In 2018, they moved into their first home together with a rotating cast of close-friend roommates over the years. Consider them the original front-row witnesses to life (chaos) with Paola, Lovre, and Gambit.

  10. The plan was a romantic weekend in Malibu, but the rain had other ideas and their Airbnb was canceled. Lovre improvised, jumping a barbed-wire fence onto the CSUB pool deck where they first met and convincing Paola they were just taking a walk down memory lane.

    Turns out, there was one more memory to make.

  11. They had the plan, the date, and every intention of getting married. The only thing they skipped was the reservation.

    Luckily, they were first in line.

    A little chance, a lot of intention, and a full-circle moment at the same courthouse where Paola’s parents were married years before.

  12. They packed up everything and moved to Berkeley together, both starting new careers and settling into a new place to call home. The rest of the year brought even more adventures with friends and family.

  13. Now they step into this next chapter as husband and wife, a moment that once felt far away, and now feels just right.
